It&#8217;s still a\ntaboo subject and, therefore, those affected consult little with their doctor. However\nIt is necessary to talk about this pathology to demystify it since, in addition, it usually\nhave a solution.<\/p>\n\n<p>We can define erectile dysfunction as\nThe <strong>persistent inability<\/strong> <strong>to achieve and\/or maintain an\nerection sufficient to allow penetration.<\/strong> According to the Association\nSpanish Andrology, Sexual and Reproductive Medicine (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.asesa.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">ASESA<\/a>),\nin Spain, erectile dysfunction affects 1 in 5 men to a greater or lesser extent\ndegree.<\/p>\n\n<p>One of the reasons why it is important\nPaying attention to erectile dysfunction is because it <strong>can be the first\nsign of cardiovascular disease<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n<p>Erection is a multifactorial neurovascular phenomenon\nwhich occurs under hormonal control and in a specific psychological environment. Of\nThis way we can understand that any neurological, vascular pathology,\nhormonal or psychological can alter the mechanisms of erection.<\/p>\n\n<p>The main <strong>causes<\/strong> of ED are those related to\ncardiovascular disease such as hypertension, diabetes, cholesterol\nhigh, tobacco, sedentary lifestyle and overweight. There are also other causes\nphysical such as alcohol, drugs, chronic diseases (lungs,\nheart, liver or kidneys especially), hormonal alterations (testosterone,\nprolactin, thyroid hormone) or neurological disorders (multiple sclerosis\nor spinal cord injuries, for example). Many of these pathologies are more\nfrequent in older people, so erection problems\nincrease with <strong>age<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n<p><strong>Surgery<\/strong>,\nLike the one practiced in prostate cancer, it is another possible cause. The\nradical prostatectomy in any of its forms (open, laparoscopic, or\nrobotics) is an intervention that is widely practiced in cancer patients\nof clinically localized prostate and a minimum life expectancy of 10 years.\nThis intervention may lead to specific sequelae of the treatment that\naffect sexual health-related quality of life. The\nResearch has revealed that around 25%-75% of males have\nPOSTOPERATIVE.<\/p>\n\n<p>Some <strong>medications<\/strong> may\nfacilitate the appearance also of this pathology.<\/p>\n\n<p>Finally, <strong>psychological factors\n<\/strong>, such as anxiety or stress, are behind more than <strong>20%<\/strong> of cases of\nerectile dysfunction.  <\/p>\n\n<p>The first and perhaps most important step in reaching the <strong>diagnosis<\/strong>\nof ED is the realization of an adequate clinical history aimed at determining\nits most likely cause, differentiating between an organic or psychogenic origin. Is\nIt is important to also assess the patient&#8217;s sexual partner, if it exists in a\nstable, emphasising the quality of that relationship and whether the ED has\naffected by it. A physical examination should be performed in every patient\ngeneral, reserving the performance of specialized complementary tests\nfor the differential diagnosis between a psychogenic and organic nature of the\nprocess.<\/p>\n\n<p>In any case, erectile dysfunction has\nDifferent <strong>treatments <\/strong>that allow you to enjoy sex\nFull. A semi-rigid prosthesis provides a constantly rigid penis although it can be oriented in different positions and can be ideal in elderly patients with less manual dexterity and infrequent sexual intercourse.  <\/p>\n\n<p>Herself\nplaced through a small incision in the scrotum or at the dorsal base of the\npenis, which leaves a scar that is inconspicuous.
